AUSTRALIAN CRAWL - PHALANX - VINYL LP - Wah Wah Records
$38

OG AUSSIE PRESSING! Released in December 1983, Phalanx is the first live album by Australian surf rock outfit Australian Crawl. Capturing the energy of their “Semantics” tour, the album features live recordings from concerts at Bombay Rock on the Gold Coast and the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

The title, Phalanx, references the ancient Greek battle formation where soldiers presented a wall of spears. This metaphor for the band’s powerful live performance is further emphasized by the album cover depicting frontman James Reyne mid-action, bathed in stage lights.

Phalanx features a selection of the Crawl’s greatest hits, letting fans relive the electrifying atmosphere of their live shows. The album also includes a crowd-pleasing cover of The Kingsmen’s “Louie Louie,” showcasing the band’s ability to put their own spin on classic rock. Reaching number 4 on the Australian album charts, Phalanx cemented the Crawl’s status as one of the country’s top touring acts.
